Throughout her career, Sofia worked for The Municipality of Syros-Hermoupolis, for the cultural department where she contributed to the local festival "On Markos Vamvakaris Neighborhood", as well as operated the Museum of Markos Vamvakaris.

She has been a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK until 2012 where she moved back to Greece.

Participating in many seminars focusing on the Historic Heritage, she took interest in the historical buildings of Syros, getting involved in multiple individual and team projects. In 2015, along with her team members, she received first place in a team project competition, dealing with street redeveloping in the city of Hermoupolis, under the supervision of Syros Institute. That proposal was also introduced into the Urban Planning Service of Syros for further study and future application.

Her involvement with the Cyclades Drawing Center project started by recording today's state and pathology of the building and by providing architectural drawings and ideas for the Negroponte Mansion's future redevelopment.
